Smeeth Sandpit Preservation Ltd. owns the Sandpit at Smeeth. It is a wonderful place to walk and for anyone to enjoy the piece and quiet of nature at its best.
The company was formed to purchase the 15.5 acre former sandpit as there was real concern that, as a brownfield site, it could be used and developed in ways that would have been detrimental to the area and the environment. It has approximately 120 family and individual shareholders.
